Press Release: HIGKL & Atlas Honolulu Announce $20 Car Wash Fundraiser for Maui Relief

HONOLULU, HI, (AUGUST 22, 2023) – The Hawaii Gay Kickball League (HIGKL) and Atlas Honolulu are partnering to raise funds for Maui relief.

The fundraiser will take place on Saturday, August 26th from 1pm to 7pm at Atlas Honolulu (20 Twelve Honolulu parking lot at 2012 South Beretania Street). The organizations are aiming to raise $2,000 - $5,000 by washing cars and through supplemental and matching donations.

“We are devastated by the loss of life, homes, businesses, and historical treasures as a result of the Maui wildfires, where King Kamehameha held the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom for over 50 years. We thank Atlas Honolulu for partnering with us on this venture. Our organizations continue to look for ways to ease the burden on our Maui island ‘Ohana,” said Rick Ramirez, HIGKL Commissioner.

“Atlas Honolulu offers our deepest condolences to our Maui ‘Ohana, whose lives will forever be impacted by the devastating Lāhainā wildfires. We hope that by offering a fundraising event in partnership with the Hawaii Gay Kickball League and 20 Twelve Honolulu, we will be able to provide monetary support to those who need it most. Mahalo nui loa in advance for your support during these times,” said the partners of Atlas Honolulu: Adam Ikeda, Ezekiel Infiel, Jordan Lee, Richard Knocton, and Travis Schmitz.
